Dave Reed grew up in Billings, Montana and was raised primarily by his grandfather. His interest in rockets began as early as he can remember and he always knew he wanted to be a part of NASA. Reed attended the University of Wisconsin and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering (H. Dave Reed). In 1964, Reed joined NASA as a college graduate. He worked on Apollo missions 5, 9, 11, 12, 13, and 14. After he retired from NASA he married Florence Reed, with whom he currently resides in Carlisle, MA.
Lev Hutson lived in Leningrad, Russia at the time of the space race. He worked in the construction business and was personally opposed to the ways of the Russian government. As a Russian Civilian, Hutson was exposed to a lot of propaganda and had to decide for himself what was the truth and what were simply lies fed to him by the government. After the Cold War, Hutson moved to the United States to protect his son from being drafted to the Russian military for the mandatory 3 years of service. He currently resides in North Medford, MA.
Jane Perkins lived in Grafton, MA during the time of the space race. She grew up in a small town in Vermont. She ran a quilt making business out of her home. She had three children and a husband. She graduated from the University of Vermont where she also met her husband. She now lives in Grafton, MA with her husband.
